Yep, you are right, my experience is definitely on the older models IAC.
So you are you saying their built, in a sense, like a solenoid that Kitty mentioned?
I have only two cars of my six with a LH 2.0 & 2.2 that use them.
Nowadays, I drive them less than my nineties cars and I have a small stash of each.
I have yet to have one of those two pin models go bad.
Like I said, to dive into the older models, just didn't entice my energies. They will just wear out in my book.
From what you are saying there is a larger power draw needed to push against the light spring return mechanism. I never checked that out.
I still have a habit of try to think up solutions and would like to run this idea by you.
I have often wondered it the newer ones could be adapted over by only using one side of the power out of the earlier ECU?
Of course, I know very little about electronic circuitry within the ECU.
Unless, you think the transistors have enough capacity "overbuilt" into them for the difference needed?
My idea is Working with the ECU OUTPUT to have it trigger a "relay like" setup to do the job?
Knowing you and electronics, it would be about as big as my thumb nail.
One of your little hand scribble sketches, with some recommended part numbers, could be followed even by me.... Let alone others on the board!
But then, I might have to hit my thumb with a hammer to allow for sizing it up a bit, so I can see how to solder it together! (:-)
Shoot, you probably already know that the part I'm talking about is a standard purchased item!
Maybe that ignition gadget behinds the battery is the same thing?
