Vermont Titles?

To answer Will and Michael - NY is different. Actually I am in close contact with the wife (whose car it was) and she will certainly give me a Bill of Sale and would let me take her driver's license to DMV to show it's legit. Her ex's name is also on the title where the leasing company (Volvo Finance) assigns to the new owner(s). Getting his cooperation would be problematic. Liz doesn't still have the bill of sale from them or any long expired registrations. I did have an encouraging conversation with a friend who deals in P1800 parts. His suggestion was to go to DMV with what I have (which includes a letter from Volvo Finance that they have no financial interest in the car) and just present it all. He has had success being straight forward and non-combative. I'll have to wait till the corona virus business is done, state offices are re-opened and put on my most submissive face :-) -- Dave
