Front end clunk 200 1990

The car clunks from the front end over small potholes etc.
I replaced struts ( Bilstein), and ball joints.
When replacing struts, the strut mount bearings spun freely, so I assume they are good. The struts are tight. Could it still be the strut mounts? How do you test them when mounted. How do you test the rear A arm mounts when installed?
Something is amiss, but I can not figure out how to diagnose.
