What the Hell Should I Do, NO, What Would You Do? 200

I need an AMM for a '93 240. The last time I recall needing one, I found one at a local yard on a low mileage 740. Guess I'm getting to be an afterthought because this time, the counter guy laughed when I told him what I need.

The Bay has them listed from $24 up to $1050 delivered, new no-name, "refurbished" (whatever the hell that means) or used, OE Bosch. Quite a selection, but are any of them worth a damn?

They might be like using a cheap VOM for troubleshooting; all you end up doing is throwing another unknown into the stew pot.

What would you do? Better yet, can anyone recommend a reliable replacement?
