1988 760 SR-7145 Tuner/Cassette Help 700 1988

Hi there, I am the new owner of a beautiful and immaculately maintained 1988 760 and I (almost) couldn't be happier. The only thing that could add to my joy is if the cassette deck worked! The tuner works and I have the code in case of battery disconnect. The cassette deck does not work - no info displayed on screen and when a tape is inserted it clicks and eventually ejects. Help! The previous owner has owned it since the 90s and had never used the cassette deck. I pulled it out and it seems to me like there is something that is not plugged in that should be.
