timing??messed up bad 900 1996

on 960 had a water pump and timing belt/and all tbelt accessories pulleys tensioner- cam seals -to install- had brain slippage and did not set timing marks before pulling the belt --(have had the font of this apart 5/6 times with no issues) how does one realine this mess? I think i got/had it? hand cranked 5/6 revolutions no bad noises - piston valve kissing- but went to start and nothing - spun well no bad noises but it wont fire up. can the crank be off 180*? tried to spin it over with belt off and cams set at marks- seemed to go only a 1/3 turn and jammed? so I backed it up to timing mark- waiting to compress the tensioner to see what's up again?
hope someone has this- I think it is not a good deal on the white wonders to have done this mistake?
drz.. forgot my sign in codes so i am on claim to be.
