P1800E running rich 1800 1970

I have made all the fuel adjustments on my B20E engine that a manual is able to provide. It is presently running smooth but it continually runs rich. It is so rich that you can smell it and the exhaust spits out sooty droplets. Is there anything I can do to lean it out that doesn't involve the special equipment to make an adjustment to the control module?
