Next to check is valve clearances

You meant the valve depressor tool to change or switch the valve shims around? The original Volvo tool is hard to find nowadays. Whats available now is the Volkswagen type depressor tool which is a little bit difficult to use in practice because its prone to slip off while changing the shims. The Volkswagen tool can be obtained from Hazet or Lisle, try searching it online.

But without the tool you could always dismantle out the camshaft and replace/switch the shims manually. This requires you to remove the timing belt for a while.

For 122 code try to clean the electrical connector and the air temp sensor bulb first.

Amarin.
