Now, the thing circled in red? What the heck is that? I must have knocked the cover off it because I swear that was a blanking plate before I took the center stack cover off to enlarge the opening to fit the new outlet.

There's an unused slot between the defrost switch and the hazard switch, with a single orange wire going into it.
