1983 240 wiper linkage.

I was driving my ‘83 240 today and my passenger side wiper stopped moving. I got out of the car and found that the wiper shaft was sticking out and I could pull the whole wiper arm and shaft out of the car. I removed the dash, because I have a heater fan issues too. I found that the cable had come undone from the assembly. Nothing appears to be broken. I could probably put it back together, I want to make sure I don’t have to go back in there again. Please advise me on how to deal with this. Thanks.
