Peter, the Haynes manual I was referring to is the one specifically for SU carbs. The link above may work for Amazon. There is also the "official" one available from Burlen of course. These should be the best guides.
I would think the Haynes manual to the P1800 would be valuable to you as well, but I haven't looked at it - I only have a 945 Volvo!!
My SU experience is with MGs and Triumph TRs
