My 30 year old 740 is horny (sometimes) 700 1991

So It has been intermittent for quite sometime now. Has a mind of its own. I checked for electrical impulse down there and even add some lubrication. Still no luck. I remember reading in the FAQs that the 12v for the horn is tapped off the washer stalk on the steering wheel column so I gave her a bang there while holding the horn button down and walla...she is singing again. I took the covers off and saw the negative blue black return to the grounding ring. I swished that out with contact cleaner and exercised the contact a bit. I could not figure how to remove the connection at the stalk , nevertheless I sprayed as much as I could with contact cleaner and with a needle nose pliers wiggles the wires a bit to renew? any contact surfaces. Battery was disconnected all the time. Hopefully she will remain horny for a while.
