Key on distributor rotor?

All rotors made to OEM specifications should come internally keyed to the half notch on the end of the distributor shaft. The rotor may or may not be designed with a metal tension tab deep inside that aligns to the notch. Most have a slight taper and when fully seated in the proper orientation they should be on good and snug and won’t need a tension tab. Once properly seated, the ones like most of the Bosch with the tapered shafts can be quite difficult to get off again.
