engine swap - 88 740 to 1990 244 200

I have a 1988 740 with distributor sensor
i want to put that engine in a 1990 244 that has the crankshaft position sensor.

both are B230 non turbo with auto transmissions, so its essentially the same engine. or very similar.

The engine in the 240 has a blown head gasket

i will need to convert the engine and move distributor to the front and install the crankshaft position sensor and the flexplate to make this work without messing with the wiring the car has. im not sure if there is a distributor drive gear.

will this work? is it feasable?
