replaced my fuel pump & sock,,,,ran great for 2 days 900 1993

Really fast loads of power & then today took it for a drive 1/4 mile away let it idle while my lunatic coonhound made up his mind about what spot to poop in & while it idled it started running rough &then died!!!
Tried to restart & NOTHING!!!
Then I took the cap off totry & hear if the pump was running went to start it & it started & idled for a while,,,then I was able to drive it home like nothing happened??
got into my space parked it & I ran it up to 6000 rpm easily as if nothing was wrong??
weird??right? Wonder if some hose is /was clogged??
