where'd my brake ligh s go

I had hardwired my tail lights and everything worked. I couldn't get rid of the bulb failure light and decided to just remove the bulb. I now have no brake lights. There is power at the switch, the fuses good, but no power at the brake light wire.
Put the failure light back in?
