EGR Intake Port Blocking Plate? 200 1991

Hi Kitty,
What do you have an exhaust leak in the EGR system piping and to use an exhaust manifold plug on?

I guess most anything will plug the intake port.

Something to think, if you remove the EGR and it’s temperature sensor system you going to have a CEL problem.
The light will continually come on every time the ECU doesn’t get that change of temperature signal reference when it tells the Vacuum valve to turn on.

On that valve, that’s on the left fender, it has an exhaust port, under the little cap. If that becomes plugged up. The light triggers for either one.
I got a good buy on a car because the PO’s Indy kept throwing good money after that light.
State inspections take that light seriously and it triggers on about every ten miles.

So if you plan on doing this, you can do what my PO did, pull the small battery wire off in the little square terminal box, before every test driver. It was coming due new tags.
I bought the good car and went to get a certificate and the light came on for the technician while there!
I had to take it back after I located the code and traced it.
This was my first car with a CEL. Just because it may not have a EGR showing, upon inspection, they have their ways of seeing flags of tampering, I was told?

You might be lucky that these cars are way older than the technicians.

Good luck up there in your new state of employment.

Glad to have read you moved on and happier.

Phil
