144 speedo cable 140-160 1967

I'm a bit confused.

According to the Volvo parts manual for an early 140, the BW35 cable is 1665mm and the M40 cable is shorter at 1580mm.

The threads are the same at the transmission for both transmissions and in fact the part that speedometer cable screws onto has the same part number.

So the BW35 cable should screw right on.

Trying to shorten the cable is problematic if you don't have the tools or supplies to do it right. Our speedometer repair shop can do it, but it costs more than to buy a new speedometer cable.
