What are the symptoms ? Is it leaking from the hoses or lines ? Are you refilling the p/s reservoir on a regular basis ?
My guess if your getting a chattering in the steering wheel when you turn the wheel then I would take a look at the pump. If it needs fluid then put in p/s fluid that has "stop-leak" in it and then all the way to left & right a few times.
I have replaced the p/s pumps more than the racks
