Heater work 200 1979

So far I've never seen one with a leak, just failure of the thermostat. I have a collection too, but don't know how to fix the thermostat. Neither have I ever seen or heard of a Ranco valve with a thermostat but not having a calibration adjustment, regardless of Volvo model year. (I believe the plastic imitation valves began with 1992) Having a wax motor thermostat with fixed calibration smacks of hubris.

If I had a leaker, I'd pinch the hose (upper is source) just inside the firewall until I could get it fixed, whether valve or core. The hoses inside the car have always been quite supple and new-looking even after 40 years.
