This may not be helpful at all since my only experience is with the 245 rear seat. My recently retired 1980 245 has a mechanical link to release the catch --unbeatable. My 1993 245 uses a cable inside the seatback - a breakable system. That's why I'm going to put the 1980 seatback into the '93. I would think the release is probably by cable in the 740. The only solution may be to release the upholstery from the frame to gain access. - Dave
