Rusted Brake Dust Shields 900 1994

My 940s brake dust shields here in Minnesota are deteriorating, mainly on the bottom, from road chemicals. Does anyone have a replacement idea of the bottom section? What needs to be removed to replace the dust shields with new and are new front and rear dust shields still available?
I have thought of possibly cutting sections out of old dust shields that have good sections and pop riveting them across the rusted out parts?
Any help would be appreciated. Our old 940s are still running strong despite the road chemicals used.
