Failed Bilsteins: HD or Touring? 200 1993

Bilstein HD or Touring?

Front A control arm bushing replaced and strut (PN 1272455) mounts okay?

I've had Bilstein Touring on / in my 1992 for over a decade.

In the 1991, The HDs were a little problematic as without boots water intrudes. In cold weather the where water collects past the piston seals the strut can seize. No problem with the rear HDs. The 240 Turbo accordion type piston boots that hang on the washer at the top of strut piston yet below the strut mount appear to be a better solution to slow weather / ambient condition intrusion than the blue Bilstein HD boots. I may have nicked the piston during install. I have an orange de Carbon on the front driver side. The removed Bilstein HD had leaked dampener cartridge oil inside the strut tube.

Apparently Bilstein HD comes in a model that fits the 1991+ 240 front strut tubes, with or without ABS.

For the fuss, I'm pleased with the Touring above the HD, FWIW.

Hope that hepkats! Plz lettuce know.
