stopped running long story 900 1995

This 1995 Volvo 940 has been at a garage about 100 miles from home for over three months now and the head mechanic wants to spend some more time with it. I offered to get it out of their hair by having it towed home but he wants another go around and I have agreed. If you have any thoughts on a potential resolution I would love to hear them. Here is what has been done to date.

The cylinder head was replaced by a used head that had been machined and prepared before installation.

Timing belt replaced.

water pump replaced.

Engine started and ran.

Stopped and now will not start. Mechanic reported a clunking sound as well.

Any thoughts? Input from this forum got my 240 back on the road recently, by the way.

Bob
