Clutch chatter 444-544

Anybody know why my PV clutch all of a sudden would being violent vibrating/chatter when feathering it from a stop both in forward and reverse? It's so bad it feels like the entire drive train is going to erupt out of the car. I'm afraid to drive it. I checked the motor mounts (they're new) and they are secure.
Is there some kind of bracket attachment support for the tranny/clutch/drive axle behind the engine that maybe is not attached, or has come loose?
