How Can I Lock My Drivers Door Without The Key? 900 1994

Hello again everyone,

As I'm sure you all know, the "Central Locking System" on the 940 Volvo, requires the driver's door to be completely closed before the door lock plunger knob can be pressed down, thereby locking all the doors. This can only be done by hand or via the exterior door keyway, with the door completely shut.

My question is: How can I set it up to work like the 240's, wherein upon exiting with the driver's door open, you can simply push down on the lock plunger knob and shut the driver's door? This would lock all the doors and then I could just close the driver's door.

Otherwise, I have to use the ignition key to central lock, or open the left rear door and push the driver's door knob down. I'm surprised after 30 years of owning this 940, it only now occurs to me to modify this very inconvenient configuration.

So what is the set-up in the 240's that allow the driver's door plunger to go down, even if the door is open, and can it be configured into my 940?

Thanks as always BrickBoarders!

John
