I have a 1980 242 with the b-21 and k-jetronic injection. I am just now starting to understand how everything in the k-jet system works, but not well enough to figure out my problem.
Here is the whole story.
When I got the car, the engine ran well and started up easily, although it idled a little high (1000-1200 rpm). It would start up almost instantly regardless of temperature.
The car would run too hot, and I noticed white sludge on the oil cap.
Removed the head and had it resurfaced (warped 6 thousands in the center). I put everything back together with new water pump thermostat and rodded the radiator. No problem keeping cool now. When I removed the fuel control unit, I left all of the injectors connected and left the cpr and frequency valve connected as well. I didn't tamper with anything and the unit was stored in a safe place for the time it was removed. I had to reconstruct the wiring harness, but I have verified that nothing is wrong with that.
The cold start injector is getting voltage and does flow fuel. What I did notice is that it takes a long time for fuel to get to the injectors. However when I activate the pump, it appears instantly on the outlet of the fuel filter, and the car is hard to start.
Anybody know what might be going on?
