Re: experience with "k" cam 200 1984

Mark,

I installed a K cam in my B21 engined ProRally car. The engine uses a pair of Weber DCOE45 carbs, headers and the CR is raised to 10.5:1.

The engine produces great performance up to the 7,000 readline. Performance below 3,000 rpm is poor but not just due to the cam.

I use the ipd cam gear at 4 degree advanced. This is primarily to compensate for the milled head. Shaving the head changes the timing belt geometry and tends to retart the cam.

I used an ipd Vx cam in a milder engine and liked the performance but a variable cam gear was not needed.

A more radical cam could produce more power but would affect streetability.
