Broken Tooth on K-9800 Odo 200 86

I pulled it apart, found the broken tooth on the tiniest of tiny gears -- the one of the three-gear assembly that goes directly on the motor shaft which drives the odometer and tripometer.

Speedo shop wants $75 to go through the whole speedo and change the gear. Says the gear is $8 on top of the other cost.

Looked over two other K-9800 donor units, each has same broken gear.

Where can I find this 30-cent part? (No good boneyards around here). Any suggestions? Will the dealer help me? My local mech turned me to the speedo guy.

If I am able to find a decent gear that isn't broken, anything else I should check out while in the speedo? The shop said mysteriously "there are a few other things in those that need attention" but didn't really elaborate. TIA.

Yeah, I know -- let it roll without the odometer. But a) how do I get the next high mileage badge this way, and b) how am I supposed to get reimbursed for mileage at work if I'm not putting on any?! Cheers.
