engine specs/fuel pump fuse burns out 200 80

Just looking for some input, I have a 242 DL 1980, bought it last year from original owner in CO. He had the engine rebuilt after a blown head gasket about 5 years ago. It runs like a striped ape! could this be the high compression B21E? Anybody know if they were sold in the US? Also just had the original pre-pump replaced, car works fine, no noise from main pump but the fuse gets hot and burns out about every 1500 miles or so. I know this is probably the main going out, but am wondering if it may be something else? I have had no work done on the CIS, just emmission settings. Thanks for the input, oh yeah, car has close to 210,000
