Re: Muffler-Exhaust system 700 1990

Don't replace the cat unless it's plugged...waste of money.

The cat on our 87 760T has over 210k on it with an overboosted engine and still meets emission requirements (and still hauls the beast to over 120mph).

Standard tip is to consider replacing the entire exhaust system from the cat back with a stainless steel system if you can find one...then you shouldn't have to do it again, ever. If you choose to replace just the muffler, I can just about guarantee you that you will be replacing another pipe or resonator within two years.

I've found one source on the web for turbo 3" stainless steel header-back systems, including a new cat, for about $750 which I consider steep because I don't need to replace the cat (although if I put on a T3/04 turbo, THEN the 3" pipe would do some good...hmmm).

The stock volvo exhaust system kit is kind of hard to beat.
