Re: 240DL Driver's Seat 200 1987

the bottom is easy to do. just unsnap the seat cushion and remove. most of the time, the cross-wires or springs have slipped off, not broken. I reset the cross-wires and springs (then wired them up to prevent future movement. The back is more time consuming. The lumbar support stretches two U-shapped wires (about 2 inches wide and 8 inches long. one up and the other down). the U goes over the lumbar knob bracket (in the seat), the ends are attached to springs. Usually the wires break, but sometimes the plastic shaft breaks. To replace. go to a junk yard and get the wires from a seat (this will also allow you to see how the rear seat goes over the frame and how things are put together). then replace the wires on your seat. you will need to completely remove the seat from the car (unbolt from the frame - 4 bolts, easy to do). I have some spare wires from when I last did it.
