transmission service 900 95

I have a 95 940 wagon with 55,000 miles.. At 15 and 30 k I replaced the trans fluid by opening bolt on pan, draining the fluid and replacing about 3 times over a couple of days to try to remove more of the fluid and replenish with new fluid. It looks like the pan bolts are encumbered by the underbody and are very hard to replace to pull the pan off to clean the strainer. Does the pan need to be dropped?? Should I just take car for BG flush of system without dropping the pan?? What is the best way to maintain the tranny???
