diesel questions-turbo or not 200 83

I recently acquired an 83 244 diesel with a bad head gasket. I stumbled into an 85 740 with a turbo diesel. Will the turbo from the 740 bolt onto the 240 and work correctly? Would it be practical to put the entire turbo engine into the 240 instead? Or.... should I just go ahead with the v8 conversion?
