Removing black turbo trim? 200 84

Hi, Do any of you have a method for removing the black trim (tape?) that is under the windows on 240 Turbos? Mine is cracking and I guess the only way to repair is to remove and replace. Will the paint underneath be affected by the removal process? And where can you get this stuff other than the dealer (if you can even get it from them)? Thanks for any help.
