Amongst lists of pleas for help, I thooght Bricksters may me interested in a success story:
A while back I had made some inquiries about towing with my 965, along with some other issues relatd to a trip from Chicago to Baltimore. Well, the entire logistical feat went flawlessly! I started out in late October driving form Baltimore to Champaign Il. where my most trusted Volvo mechanic put on the Volvo electrical towing harness, filled the tranny with Mobil Synthetic AFT, changed front rotors and Metalmaster pads (they are very competent), rear diff oil, etc and generally gave it a critical look. I then delivered the car to my son and family (in Champaign) who took it on a 3500 mile adventure to Montana while I conferenced in Chicago, flew to Fresno CA to see my Dad, and returned to Chicago. Trained back to C-U, then returned to Chicago area with the car to pick up household goods and trailer. Spent the next day and a half getting back to Baltimore.
The car exceeded its tasks. Drove in '3' position all the way, but used the cruise much of the way. When it lagged going up those 5% grades in western Maryland, all I need to do is give it a bit more throttle and it would respond. The U-haul ended up being a 6x8, but pretty fully loaded. Got back late last night with about 6K more miles on the car. I love this car! Can't wait to free it of it's land anchor...
