Re: Over bore 1800 1971

Oye, Levi.

You can fairly safely go to about 0.122 inch over which gives you

2130 cc. B21 pistons will fit but the problem is you have to use

a big bore head gasket which will probably cost you $100.

If I were you I would get the cylinders miked. You may not

have to bore them at all. I took an old block that came to

me with a car I bought and had the cylinders honed. They cleaned

up at about 0.001" oversize (3.502") so I am going back with

std pistons and rings, which are good in cylinders up to about

3.506" bore. Std bore is 3.5008, or rounded off, 3.501"

Pistons at standard oversizes are available from a LOT of parts

places including RPR and IPD, Scantech and many local stores.

Get your cylinders measured, then get the pistons BEFORE you get

them bored or honed (or both).
