IAC Problem 700 1989

I have a 1989 745GLE with 16 Valve engine. It recently started idling about 1500 rpm. I checked for vacuum leaks, but found none. I read the 700 FAQ and suspected the IAC. I had read somewhere that if the engine idle slows when you pinch the hose going to the IAC it meant it wasn’t working. Sure enough I could control the engine idle speed by pinching the hose. I removed it and cleaned it and the idle was OK for maybe a minute, then back to 1500 rpm. I noticed that my valve only has two pins unlike the one described in the FAQ. How do I test it to know if it is OK?

The FAQ describes cleaning the “slip ring”, but the “crimps” that hold it together appear to be part of the aluminum case and I’m not sure if I could successfully uncrimp them. Could I buy one from a junkyard?

Thanks, Denis
