New tach is questionable 200 84

Just installed a new (old) tach in place of the large clock in the instrument pod.

Ran a 14ga. wire from the (#1) terminal on the coil to the tach, and installed the harness from the new small clock I also installed.

The tach seems to read quite low - my idle is about 1300 rpm (another story), and the tach reads just above 0. At crusing speed (auto tranny), the tach reads about 1600 rpm.

Noticed today that the tach needle was bouncing around from 0 to 2000 rpm for a short time, while driving - no other simptoms raised thier head.

Is there an adjustment for the tach? What other problems may there be?
