Swap Diesel engine for 4-cylinder Gas 200 1980

I have a 1980 240 Diesel auto tranny with a dead engine (6-cylinder VW) and would like to replace it with a 4 cylinder gas engine from a 1979 240. My main question is will the Diesel tranny and bell housing bolt to the 4-cylinder engine. Or will I need the bell housing from the 4-cylinder. I red here on Brickboard that all Volvo’s 4-cylinder engine is interchangeable with any Volvo’s tranny from a 4- cylinder engine.

I know this transplant had been done before, and would be most grateful for any and all information on this subject, My wife would be DOUBLE grateful as I have been meaning to start this project over 6 years ago.

Thanks.
