Ignition timing problem - PLEASE READ 700 90

I though it would be obvious when I wrote that I could adjust the ignition timing, but not enough, that this engine uses the RPM sensor in the distributor and NOT the crankshaft sensor. It is equipped with LH 2.2, not the later 2.4 system.

Also, the ignition timing was near enough to normal (couldn't be sure since the timing pointer had been broken off) that I could use regular 87 octane gasoline before the cam was retimed to specs.

This ignition timing problem is what I have after setting the cam where it belongs, confirmed by the 3 marks on the belt AND the cam mark matching the upper cover at TDC (confirmed with a depth gauge in the spark plug hole), not some mistake I made performing the job.

Like I said, I had discovered during disassembly that the cam timing was one tooth late with the old belt.

The car definitely has better off-the-line kick than it did, so I'd rather find an answer than simply drop the cam back to where it was (one tooth late).
