Sticking rear caliper piston 200 83

Hola bricksters:

It seems that the rear ATE single piston calipers on my son's

83 245 are always giving trouble. These are the 3rd set of calipers and always one side seemsto end with a stuck piston. How does one unstick the piston to put in new brake pads? I have a MONSTER set of waterpump pliers, squeezed with all my might (maybe I'm too weak-where's Arnold when you need him?) and it still will not budge. I just placed a new pad on the other piston and left the old pad (doesn't move anyway). Drove off. Is there anyone who can give me some ideas to 1) unstick the piston and 2) keep it from happening again?

BTW,these are rebuilt calipers from O'Riely's with a lifetime warranty.

Thanks and have a happy new year. Genaro.
