240DL-- shakes and spark plug wire issues. 200 86

My engine shakes abnormally and at weird times. Sometimes it works fine as if there's no problems. It's as if it has parkinsons. I replaced the rotor, cap, wires, sparks and will be replacing the gas filter tomorrow. Any thoughts on what it might be? It does seem to act up more on low gas or when I freshly refill...so, my initial--non-mechanic--thought is it's the gas filter.

Also, I just installes new plugs and wires. The wires are made by Fram and have a metal covering around them. This prevents the rubber from securing around the plug less than the old wires which were made by Volvo. Once installed, I started the car and drove it around the block. When I came back the engine was making a weird noise. The wire was loose and the spark was somewhat visible. How bad was this, and if the wires weren't questionable, as in this case, could that have meant I mis-inserted the plug? All seems better now, but just curious.

I appreciate your response.

Sincerely,

Ryan
