Oil pressure light comes on!! :( 700 87

Started the car this morning (frigid), took it to the intersection and noticed the oil pressure light was on.

Quickly pulled off the road and turned it off. The car hadn't been running two minutes (temp gauges hadn't started to move).

Thought/hoped the cold weather was playing games again and came back to the car in the afternoon. Started it and the light when out. Drove it back home (300 yards). On the way, you guessed it Ð back on.

Of course, the oil level is sufficient. :D

And, there is no oil level sensor, BTW. (I don't think.)

It has used synthetic (Mobil 1) since new. Light had gone out just as it starts, not even a fraction of a second later. Unless I just changed the oil. :)

Anyone with experience in this?

Oil pump is obviously working (no broken shaft).

Bad relief valve?

What's the easiest way to change for sufficient oil pressure?

I could just buy a new pressure gauge (10 bucks) and try that.

Starting to scare me. :(

regards,

MAJ
