Anyone interested in the ins and outs of snow tires and their design and performance should visit the Nokian tires web site. And read the stuff you think you know about, as why snoew tires what they are and performance tire comparisons including reprints from Finnish and French tests,

There are reasons the various manufactureers from Japan Germany, Italy and Finland design their tieres for the different conditions in their countries. Also the comparison of grip on various surfaces of their own tires is very revealing...nothing beats studs!..most of the time.
