Sad boy turns potentially happy! (Fuel Relay / Pump issues) 200 1986

Well, it's 8:30 p.m. and looks like it will be a late night. But perhaps tomorrow I won't need to telecommute. As some of you may know I have been having stuttering problems, and also an overheating fuel relay. Well, I just removed my fuel pump from within the tank and what did this sad boy, turned happy find? A ripped filter bag! That's gotta be good/bad-depending on your perspective!

Also as mentioned before, I did buy both pumps, but can return the external one if I do not need it. I'm wondering if, since I own it, I should replace the external also--since it's probably taken a beating over the past month. (Not to mention it's probably 16 years old.)

Thanks everyone for all the help!
