serious help needed, ran with no oil! 200 1991

To make a long story short, my car was driven with no oil for about 8km over about 20 minutes. The crankshaft oil seal blew and four qts. of oil were lost. The pump was starved and the oil light was on for the whole time. I filled the car up with oil in order to pull it into the shop and it still sounded good.

I pressume the reason the seal let go was a blocked PCV valve. Can you confirm this. Also what is the easiest way to get the pulley off so that I can get at the seal.

I have also removed the starter motor to get at the PCV valve. What a nightmare of a job. How do you actually get the valve out or this cartridge or what ever it is. I have the two bolts out of the PCV valve housing but cannot push it up high enough because of the hose that goes into the manifold and the wiring harness that is on top. Please help

Any advise would be much appreciated.
