TKS / 142s fuel drainback? / SU air cleaners FS? 140-160 1970

Greetings and a belated happy new year to all, and as well a VERY belated thank you to all who answered my query in December about used fenders for my 142. Still looking.

Current issue: I am having an intermittent problem whereby when the 142 sits for any length of time (can a be a few hours or a few days), it seem to lose fuel pressure. Takes a LOT of cranking to get the car started, and it's evident that the car is not getting any fuel during the cranking.

OTOH, sometimes you can park it for a week and it starts right up. No rhyme or reason.

Is there a checkvalve/drainback valve in the fuel pump or elsewhere that is not functioning? I feel a bit at a loss on this, as I began tinkering with cars once I had got into the EFI stages of Volvo ownership, so carbs are a dark art for me ;-).

ALSO: I plan to convert my car to SUs soon. I have the new/used carbs, but I've now realized the original airbox won't fit. I presume the SUs had the pancake-style air cleaner assemblies? Anyone got a set of those lying around they need to sell?

Many TKS
