Help!! My #%$&*( GLE won't run 200 1980

Dear Dr. Volvo's of the Brickboard,

I have a problem with my 1980 GLE (6 cylinder). The problem is that it is difficult to start, especially when it is warm. Furthermore, I have to set the idle atabout 2000 RPM so that when I put it into gear, it still manages to run at about 1000 RPM. It will do this for about 15 seconds then it will stop running (It should be noted that it will idle at 2000 Rpm all day long without any problems). I have to put my foot on the brake and the gas to keep it running at a stop sign.

Any responses including opinions (good or bad)about the six cylinder engine would be appreciated.
