Turbo life expectancy/replacement 200 84.5

Hey guys...

Great 'bowl this year, eh??

Was wondering.... how long do the non-watercooled Garrett turbos usually last given proper maint.? Is it possible to get 200K out of one without an overhaul? Pushing 140K on a stocker in my '84. Has very little play, leaks a little oil from the return line, but this car was babied by the PO. Keeping my fingers crossed for another trouble-free 60K miles. Can't figure out whether to drive it as little as possible and use the '85 for commuting, or whether to just drive it and hope for the best.

What's the going rate for a turbo-ectomy? The parts are almost $1K in the IPD catalog if you upgrade to a watercooled core. Labor must be prohibitive....
